Here at the Tees Barrage International White Water Centre, we have the ideal set up for visiting Schools, Colleges and Youth Groups. We aim to provide a safe, fun learning environment, and take the scare factor out of taking children to learn outside the classroom.
At TBIWWC we can offer Activity Sessions that provide fun and excitement on and off the water for all kinds of groups, big or small.

We will supply:
All Technical equipment
Wetsuits*
* Wetsuits are mandatory during the winter season (1st October – 30th April) and are provided to you at no extra cost. You do not have to wear a wetsuit during the summer season (1st May - 30th September). However if you do require to hire a wetsuit there is a £5.00 hire charge during this busy season.
You will need to bring:
Outdoor wear that is suitable to get wet.
Thermals, fleece, sweater, sweat shirt,
Full length trousers must be worn e.g. tracksuit bottoms, walking trousers (not jeans, shorts or skirts).
Thermal vest or thin fleece tops & bathing costume/trunks for under wetsuits.
Footwear MUST have a covered toe, wetsuit boots or training shoes that you happy to get wet are ideal. No flip flops or open toed sandals.
Thick socks.
A Towel and shower gel.
Personal toiletries and medication.
Clothing for after the session (off the water wear).
If you have your own technical equipment please feel free to bring it, but an instructor will check that the equipment is appropriate and fit for purpose for the activity.
Specialised Equipment
Certain specialised equipment is needed or recommended for specific courses. A list of this will be supplied upon booking. e.g. throwline on a WWS&R course.
Boat Hire
We have a large selection of kayaks and canoes available for hire. NorthShore Watersports also has a large demo fleet which you can try before you buy.
You can rest assured that all staff are highly trained and qualified in the activities they are instructing. All our staff undergo an Enhanced CRB Disclosure before being allowed to commence employment at the TBIWWC. The Centre is annually inspected by the relevant govering bodies to check that the Centre is operating within the guidelines and remits of it’s licence. 1 teacher to 6 students.
All risk assessments and operating procedures are annually inspected and amended as necessary. We aim to provide a safe, fun learning environment, and take the hassle out of taking children to learn outside the classroom. Watersports is our business, and Watersports is what we do Best!

In the main centre we have a Cafe offering hot and cold drinks, meals and snacks. We have a watersports shop selling equipment for the more enthusiastic users. We also have overnight options to suit most individuals or groups. On site we have 3 log cabins all with views of the River Tees. Each cabin can sleep up to six people, and are fitted with a lounge, kitchen, two bedrooms, shower and toilet for those having to travel from further a field.

You will need to contact a member of staff and fill in a 'Photo Policy' form and we ask that you get the permission of all participants to publish any images or video.
