10.00am - Dusk
It’s a fantastic way to learn about birds of prey, to see a variety of birds up close and to be the focal point for various Conservation or Wildlife projects.
Predominantly, a visit to the Sanctuary offers great scope for Science activites, but as you will see from our FREE online Teacher Pack there are opportunities to include every Curriculum Subject in a bird of prey project.
The Suffolk Owl Sanctuary offers a range of activity days out for school groups, which can be tailored to meet with the individual requirements of each group.
Activities vary dependent on the age group.
A visit will generally include a guided tour of the Sanctuary, a craft activity and a flying display (flying displays April to September only).
All materials for craft activities are provided and each child receives an S.O.S Safari Activity book.
We can accommodate groups of up to around 50 children for a visit with no minimum limit. One adult to four children is required.
We have a risk assessment available on request.
Teachers are welcome to come and visit the site before any school visit.
There is a café within the Stonham Barns complex and soft drinks and ice-creams can be bought at the Sanctuary.
We recommend that suncream is used and hats are worn in very sunny weather and sensible, low heeled shoes and coats worn if the weather is very inclement.
First Aid is available on site.
Visitors are more than welcome to take photo's at the Sanctuary.
