What makes this a great venue for School group Fun or Educational Visits?

Characterised by plain facades and interiors, flat roofed with large windows and white rendering on the exterior, the aesthetics of Modernism was considered progressive and in touch with the new machine age of motor cars and aeroplanes during the first quarter of the 20th century. Many people today live in 1930s semi and terraced houses, and in comparison The Homewood still remains an exciting house way ahead of its time and demonstrating the vision of its designer over 70 years ago.

What are the Curriculum Topics or Benefit to the students from a visit?

Maths (the house whole house is based on Patrick Gwynne's system of proportion: the vertical unit is 1ft x 8in, the horizontal 4ft. Everything is mathmatical variation of the theme.

What are the activities?

Activities can be arrange to suit interest and age group

What is the age range of the activities?

11+ through to degree students

What are the minimum and maximum group sizes and the free Teacher Ratio?

Due to the interior of the house, groups of 14 students / 1 teacher in to one guide for a tour of the house.

Do you have or how do you arrange risk assessment?

We can provide a risk assessment but we always recommend a pre visit assessment by the teacher / tutor

Do you offer Teacher familiarisation days?

Yes

What facilities are there for school groups for food and drink, shop etc?

Full facilities can be provided at nearby Claremont Landscape Garden, less the 1K away.

Is specific clothing required?

No

Do you have first aid on site?

Yes

Are there any restrictions on photos, copyright etc?

There are some restrictions on photographing certain contents within the house
