Monday – Saturday 7.30am – 6.30pm (Education facility by prior arrangement).

What makes this a great venue for School group Fun or Educational Visits?

The venue is inspiring and unique. The activities are hands-on. Everyone can and does get involved and comes away having learnt something valuable while having fun.

What are the Curriculum Topics or Benefit to the students from a visit?

Visits to the Eco Centre are cross-curricular and can cover Science, Geography, ICT, Literacy, Citizenship. There are links to Eco-Schools, Sustainable Schools, Healthy Schools and School Travel Plans.

What is the age range of the activities?

Although aimed primarily at years 4, 5 and 6, educational visits are available for pupils of other age groups on request.

What materials to you provide or suggest groups bring to support the visit?

For most days you are not required to bring any materials although for some a little prior work is recommended. Details are given at the time of booking. On some of our days pupils will produce work which can be taken back to school.

What are the minimum and maximum group sizes and the free Teacher Ratio?

A group size of 32 or less (30 for Earth, sun and moon day) is ideal although larger groups can be accommodated on some of our days. Please contact your local authority H&S advisor for recommended pupil ratios.

Do you have or how do you arrange risk assessment?

? A risk assessment for activities undertaken at the Centre is provided at the time of booking. This should be supplemented with your own for the journey etc. A teacher pre-visit is recommended. Please call to arrange a tour.

What facilities are there for school groups for food and drink, shop etc?

There are no facilities to purchase anything on site. Most groups bring their own packed lunches.

Is specific clothing required?

For certain days sturdy shoes and waterproof outdoor clothing or sunhats and suncream is recommended.

Do you have first aid on site?

Yes but it is advisable to also provide your own.

Are there any restrictions on photos, copyright etc?

Photographs of the educational displays where the text can be clearly seen are not permitted.

Additional information.

We encourage visitors on public transport where possible and a free bus will bring groups from Southport town centre. If you arrive by coach please use Gate B at the front of the building.
Tailor-made visits may be available on request.

School Group Pricing

All days are charged at £10 per group per hour for Sefton schools, £25 per group per hour for others. Special reduced rates are offered at the beginning of each academic year. Extra charges will apply for ‘Habitats’ day. Part of ‘Coastal management’ day is exempt from charges.
