What makes this a great venue for School group Fun or Educational Visits?

We are a rescue and rehabilitation centre for owls with 20 years experience in the educational field for schools. We have interactive demonstrations with live birds and animals which does not just include owls but also emus, ponies, meerkats and alpacas.

What are the Curriculum Topics or Benefit to the students from a visit?

Depending on the age of students:-Biology, conservation, habitat, geographical distributions to name just a few

Sample programme of the activities:

Close encounters, flying displays, walk with the keeper, emu feeding, pony petting. Meerkat and alpaca feeding

What are the minimum and maximum group sizes and the free Teacher Ratio?

Teachers are free with all groups, minimum students 10 maximum 100

Do you have or how do you arrange risk assessment?

We are zoo licensed and have a full risk assessment registered with the local authority covering all visitors to our site

Do you offer Teacher familiarisation days?

Teachers are welcome to come on a pre-visit to see what we offer

What facilities are there for school groups for food and drink, shop etc?

We have a shop and tea rooms for schools to use, a picnic area and an indoor shelter area for classes to use if weather is bad

Is specific clothing required?

None

Do you have first aid on site?

Yes

Are there any restrictions on photos, copyright etc?

All photos can be used in schools but not for commercial use. Permission must be sought for use of copyright material
