Salisbury and South Wiltshire Museum uses its collections, building and services to encourage learning, inspiration and enjoyment. We offer teachers an opportunity to support and enhance classroom teaching both at the museum and in school. All of our sessions are hands on, lively and focus on developing pupils key skills.
The museum's collections have been designated of national significance due to its outstanding archaeological collection. The museum cares and displays the archaeology from the Stonehenge World Heritage Site which can be explored through our interactive displays or through a museum-led History in Practice workshop.
The museum's Primary Education Programme covers Stonehenge to the 1940s. All of our activities are hands on, lively and can be delivered in the museum or at school.
Most of our delivered workshops are history and art focused, however, the museum's Learning and Outreach Officer is happy to discuss and plan with teachers topic based ideas.
The Primary Education Programme is aimed at KS1 and KS2. Work placement opportunities are available to KS4 all other groups are welcome to book a self guided visit or discuss individual needs and interests with the Learning Officer.
