What makes this a great venue for School group Fun or Educational Visits?

We have been running adventurous, educational outdoor activities since 1996. All our activities are based on the one 180 acre site. We have an on-site cafe and a fully refurbished bunkhouse. We have three camping fields with shower and toilet block with disabled facilities.

What are the Curriculum Topics or Benefit to the students from a visit?

We run GCSE and A-Level courses in climbing, kayaking, hill walking that support the P.E curriculum. We run woodland learning sessions that can be linked to the school curriculum. The benefits to students are numerous and include: increased self-confidence, improved communication, enhanced leadership and problem solving skills, inspired creativity and enriched learning.

What are the activities?

Climbing, Abseiling, Kayaking, Canoeing, Archery, Rifle Shooting, Orienteering, High Ropes, Raft Building, Inititiative Exercises, Woodland Learning.

What is the age range of the activities?

Ages 5 upwards

What materials to you provide or suggest groups bring to support the visit?

A spare change of clothes and footwear that you don't mind getting wet and a waterproof jacket. We provide all equipment for activities, i.e Harnesses, helmets, buoyancy aids etc.

What are the minimum and maximum group sizes and the free Teacher Ratio?

We work on an 8:1 ratio of client to instructor - so maximum group size is 8. We are able to accommodate up to 200 people per day.

Do you have or how do you arrange risk assessment?

We have all risk assessments that can be e-mailed or posted to you.
We are a fully licensed AALA centre and a Lancashire County Council Registered Centre

What facilities are there for school groups for food and drink, shop etc?

We have an on-site cafe that serves hot and cold food and we can arrange a buffet of barbecue if you require this. There are also vending machines with food and drink on site.

Is specific clothing required?

Not really, although trainers or boots are ideal footwear. A spare change of clothes may be needed after a water session. A warm hat and gloves are a good idea if it is cold outside.

Do you have first aid on site?

Yes all our staff are trained first aiders.

Are there any restrictions on photos, copyright etc?

No

We cater for schools, colleges, youth and corporate groups and all activities are based on the one 180 acre site. We have a purpose built lake for water activities and 180 acres of farmland for orienteering. We have a fully refurbished bunkhouse that sleeps 37 people for residential stays. We have masses of experience in working with a wide range of groups and we excel in tailor-making your visit to suit the requirements of your group.
