Plas Newydd, Llangollen, home of Lady Eleanor Butler and Miss Sarah Ponsonby, the "Ladies of Llangollen" was a simple cottage until transformed by them into the house where such famous people as The Duke of Wellington, Sir Walter Scott, William Wordsworth and Josiah Wedgewood visited. With dramatically carved oak interiors, the house is a small Gothic masterpiece and memorial to the Ladies.
There are large gardens leading down to a stream for garden and nature walks. In addition to this, Y Caban, in the grounds, holds monthly exhibitions of art, historical artefacts, and installations from April to October.
