We provide a unique opportunity to enhance your curriculum delivery through an exciting range of hands-on and engaging school workshops across five historic venues.
Our learning experiences are tailored to stimulate creativity and give children the opportunity to develop confidence and important key skills.
All of our venues are in easy reach of each other and can be combined to create a full day learning experience.
We offer a wide range of curriculum topics, with many of our sessions being cross curricular. The topics we cover include Victorians, Romans, Anglo Saxons, Vikings, Florence Nightingale, World War II and science based outdoor workshops.
We over hands on workshops led by a Learning Assistant at our venues and also as outreach. We also have a Museum on the Move loan box service. Details of specific workshops can be downloaded from the website.
Age ranges catered for include preschool age, KS1, KS2 to adult learning
Domestic Staff Required
Key Stage 1 & 2
Session length – 1 hour and 45 minutes
Curriculum links: History (Victorian Britain)
Meet Mrs Harding, housekeeper at the hall, and see if you have what it takes to become a Victorian domestic servant.
The session includes role play, object handling and opportunities for speaking and listening.
We provide a Learning Assistant and resources for the workshop. We suggest that you bring your own pencils and clipboards if you have them.
The maximum number of pupils we can cater for during a session is 32. We recommend a ratio of 1:6 on the site, though some of our workshops require at least 5 adult helpers.
We offer School Visit Guidlelines and Hazard Identification documents which are available to download from the website. We suggest teachers complete their own risk assessments.
We recommend that all teachers undertake a free pre visit.
We have lunch and shop facilities at all our venues, but they must be booked in advanced.
