As an educational charity, the Museum of East Asian Art strives to promote a deeper understanding of East Asian cultures. To do this the Museum provides educational services designed to encourage children and adults to discover the art and cultures of East Asia through listening, observing, creating and handling.

There are a variety of activities available covering curriculum topics, including talks, tours, handling sessions and workshops. Many of these are also be offered in our outreach programme - and can be delivered at the school rather than onsite at the Museum.
Most of our activities either have several key stage options or can be adapted to fit the educator's needs. Our current activities have been used by schools from key stage one through to secondary school, colleges, universities and life long learning programmes.
Maximum group sizes depends on the activities that the school wish to partake in. It is common for groups of more than 20 children to be split into two for the activities. All teachers are admitted for free as part of a school group visit.
Risk assessment available on request.
There are free teacher talks/ familiarisation days available.
There is an on-site shop. There is no cafe and no eating and drinking in the Museum, however there are many local cafes that can be recommended, and many local open spaces for outdoor lunch breaks, weather permitting.
If any workshops require specific clothing (such as clay based workshops) this will be advised at time of booking.
There are first aiders available on site.
