What makes this a great venue for School group Fun or Educational Visits?

The Hall has been in continuous use for the past 650 years. Every major historical period from then till now is shown in some way in the fabric of the building, its collections of artefacts and archives, and the work of its founding Company (or guild) which holds it in trust.

The Company and Hall show an example of a locally based organisation whose activities affected its surrounding community in historical and contemporary times, and adapted and evolved to suit our changing society.

What are the Curriculum Topics or Benefit to the students from a visit?

The Hall is a suitable context to explore local and wider national and international issues, with cross curriculum to the National Curriculum in History, Citizenship, Geography and Art and Design.

All teachers are free, however large the group may be. There is no minimum size, although for the guided tour a maximum of 30 students is suggested. These can be discussed with the Hall manager in advance of the visit.
