The Hall has been in continuous use for the past 650 years. Every major historical period from then till now is shown in some way in the fabric of the building, its collections of artefacts and archives, and the work of its founding Company (or guild) which holds it in trust.
The Company and Hall show an example of a locally based organisation whose activities affected its surrounding community in historical and contemporary times, and adapted and evolved to suit our changing society.
The Hall is a suitable context to explore local and wider national and international issues, with cross curriculum to the National Curriculum in History, Citizenship, Geography and Art and Design.
