Lydiard Park is open daily, 7.30am to dusk. Lydiard House & Walled Garden open Tuesday to Sunday 11am to 5pm (winter closing at 4pm)

Lydiard Park is an ideal location to enjoy learning outside the classroom. We offer a fun and inspiring day out with a wide range of curriculum led sessions designed to encourage pupils to explore, investigate and reflect on their discoveries.

What are the Curriculum Topics or Benefit to the students from a visit?

History Unit 1, 2, 11, 12 & 18, Science Unit 2B, 4B, 5B, Geography Unit 3, Citzenship Unit 3, Art Unit 2B

What are the activities?

Sessions on Little People in a Big House, The Victorian Country House & Garden, Victorian Country House Christmas, Seasonal Exploration, A Study of Habitats, Story Walks.

What is the age range of the activities?

Early Years, Key Stages 1 & 2

Sample programme of the activities:

Little People in a Big House, for key stages 1 & 2 - pupils take on the role of family members and servants of the Bolingbroke family to learn what it was like for a child living at Lydiard House in the Victorian period. Choose the focus of your session from Toys and / or Everyday Life and investigate traditional toys and everyday objects in an authentic location.

What are the minimum and maximum group sizes and the free Teacher Ratio?

Minumber charge for groups of less than 20 pupils. Free teacher ratio 1:5 up to and including KS1, 1:10 KS2

Do you have or how do you arrange risk assessment?

Copies of risk assessments are available at time of booking

Do you offer Teacher familiarisation days?

What facilities are there for school groups for food and drink, shop etc?

Cost of visit including use of Education from for lunches.
Cafe on site and small shop at Lydiard House

Wellies & warm / waterproof coats required for outdoor sessions - our education officer will advise
