What makes this a great venue for School group Fun or Educational Visits?

Lower Smite Farm has purpose built facilities for school groups to enable them so safely experience a working arable farm. In addition the fully qualified and trained education team can deliver a wide range of environmental based education to learners of all ages.

What are the activities?

Food and Farming, Habitats and adaptations, Building materials, River Study, Rocks and soils, sensory day, ecological techniques. The list goes on!

What is the age range of the activities?

We have programmes suitable for students in Reception right through to A level.

Sample programme of the activities:

Sustainable Habitats Day –The Lorax (kS2) children will explore different habitats to uncover how creatures get their shelter water air and food. They will dip the pond and uncover creatures in the meadow and woodland. We will investigate how humans affect habitats and animal relationships.

What materials to you provide or suggest groups bring to support the visit?

We provide all materials.

What are the minimum and maximum group sizes and the free Teacher Ratio?

No minimum numbers but we do have a minimum £80 charge for the day
Adults are Free. We work to LEA ratios

Do you have or how do you arrange risk assessment?

yes

Do you offer Teacher familiarisation days?

pre / planning visits are available by arrangement

What facilities are there for school groups for food and drink, shop etc?

Toilet facilities and free tea and coffee for staff.

Is specific clothing required?

just wear suitable clothing for the outdoors and a packed lunch.

Do you have first aid on site?

Yes. All education staff are fully first aid qualified.

Are there any restrictions on photos, copyright etc?

none
