A school visit to JORVIK offers the authentic Viking encounter for your pupils, as well as being a valuable cross-curricular learning experience.
JORVIK allows pupils to delve into the historic melting pot of York that was created by immigration and trade in Viking times. This unique exhibition brings together bio-scientific and artefactual evidence and explores if you could have Viking ancestors. Pupils learn what archaeologists can discover about life, death, battle and disease through their examination of 10th – 11th century bones, including a complete Viking Warrior skeleton.
Pupils board their state-of-the-art time capsule and go on a tour of the streets and residents of Jorvik – just as it was in the year 975AD, complete with sights, sound and even smells!
