What makes this a great venue for School group Fun or Educational Visits?

Set in 51 acres of glorious Somerset countryside, this tranquil setting is home to approximately 300 unwanted / retired animals varying in size from horses to chipmunks. With outstanding views over the Yarty Valley, a nature trail and picnic area, Ferne is a visitor attraction where people with an affinity for rural life and the welfare of animals will want to return again and again. Guided tours, coaches and groups are welcome by prior arrangement. The classroom is available to schools or groups on request.

What facilities are there for school groups for food and drink, shop etc?

The Tea Room and Gift Shop are open seasonally, (April to September) Wednesdays, Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays 2.00pm - 5.00pm. Refreshments are available from Reception Monday to Friday 10.00am - 5.00pm when the Tea Room is closed. There is a picnic area and classroom available (on request).

Additional information.

Group visits and guided tours must be booked in advance. Although we make no charge for entry to the Sanctuary, costs are incurred. Therefore, we would appreciate a donation. In addition , where the classroom is requested, a minimum donation of £10.00 per session is required.
