DangerPoint is an interactive centre providing hands on safety education specifically for children and young people in North Wales. We aim to increase children and young people’s awareness of risks in the environment enabling them to make informed choices about their safety, health and well being.
A visit to DangerPoint can be used as evidence for your Estyn inspections, Healthy Schools Programme and also as part of the Curriculum, particularly PSE.
The Centre is split into zones which cover elements of everyday dangers that children and young people may come across in their lives. Whilst at the Centre, groups will visit the house where they will discuss home safety and cover the importance of fire safety. They’ll visit the dark alley to discuss the dangers of substance misuse and then discuss the effects of bullying. They’ll move on to discuss transport and have the opportunity to sit on the DangerPoint train. They will then discuss the outdoors including countryside safety and then have an opportunity board the DangerPoint boat to discuss water/beach safety. They will then use the DangerPoint road to discuss road safety including cycle safety and pedestrian safety. They will then discuss digital safety including the use of mobile phones and social networking sites.
Groups are not required to bring any materials on their visit to DangerPoint.
Maximum group size is 60 with a 1:10 ratio (adult:child)
We do have a risk assessment-if required, please ask at the time of your booking.
Teachers are more than welcome to come and have a look around the Centre prior to their visit or making a booking. Please contact the Centre to arrange.
We do not have catering facilities on site, however groups are welcome to bring their own packed lunch and eat on site.
