What makes this a great venue for School group Fun or Educational Visits?

We are a 1000 working farm, Our family have been here for 5 generations and open for school for over 30 years, and so you can see the farm at first hand and experience a real farm. we take you around on a tractor and trailer over the south downs through the sheep, cattle cornfields and conservation areas. Chat in the barn about farming and maybe see some of the 1,200 lambs being born.

What are the Curriculum Topics or Benefit to the students from a visit?

we are happy to discuss the needs of the group

What are the activities?

Taking a tractor ride over the farm and seeing the farm animals in the fields .
The main time is lambing and hopefully seeing a lamb or calf being born.
We also talk in the barn and answer many questions about farming.

What is the age range of the activities?

All ages from Preschool upwardsto university, as we are a working farm we also have many farmers visit the farm

What materials to you provide or suggest groups bring to support the visit?

If you like you can bring questionnaire related to the farm.
Young groups might like to bring play equipment such as balls to play in the field.

What are the minimum and maximum group sizes and the free Teacher Ratio?

We have no minimum number for schools just a min charge of £25 .
the trailers will hold up to 80 junior children and 65 senior school children

Do you have or how do you arrange risk assessment?

Yes

Do you offer Teacher familiarisation days?

Teachers are welcome for a pre visit, and to talk about what they require .

What facilities are there for school groups for food and drink, shop etc?

we recommend they bring their own pack lunch,
We have teas / coffees sweets
we also have a souvenir shop for the children to buy things at the end of their visit.

Is specific clothing required?

Warm sensible clothes, and strong shoes, if wet wellies.

Do you have first aid on site?

Yes but we recommend schools bring their own first aider and first aid box.
