What makes this a great venue for School group Fun or Educational Visits?

Subject to our conference programme, Visitor Hosts greet and escort our guests on a tour of the building, with an opportunity to tell them of the fascinating origins of Methodist Central Hall and about the life of our Church at the very heart of Westminster.

What are the Curriculum Topics or Benefit to the students from a visit?

Curriculum topics include history and religious studies with an opportunity to visit our 4th floor balcony giving spectacular views of the west front of Westminster Abbey and panoramic views of the surrounding area.
Written information on the Wesley’s and the origins of Methodism are provided.
Tours are free and can be booked in advance

What are the activities?

Guided Tour through the building including famous Central Hall, other rooms and the Historic Roll.

What is the age range of the activities?

From age 11 upwards.

Sample programme of the activities:

Tour of the building with a short talk on the origins and history of Central Hall. Opportunity to observe the Wesleyan Historic Roll dating from 1898.

What materials to you provide or suggest groups bring to support the visit?

Written information about the building with translations in several languages is provided, the Wesley family and the Twentieth Century Martyrs.

What are the minimum and maximum group sizes and the free Teacher Ratio?

No minimum, maximum 50 people including teachers.

Do you have or how do you arrange risk assessment?

The building is certified.

Do you offer Teacher familiarisation days?

Yes. Please get in contact.

What facilities are there for school groups for food and drink, shop etc?

Wesley’s Café serves a range of hot meals and snacks. Ideal for large groups, the cafe offers seating and moderate pricing.

The bookshop stocks a wide range of Christian books and resources. Christian DVDs and music CDs are available.

Is specific clothing required?

No.

Do you have first aid on site?

Yes.

Are there any restrictions on photos, copyright etc?

Photography is permitted.

Additional information.

Several groups combine a visit to Central Hall with a tour of neighbouring venues. For example, Westminster Abbey, Houses of Parliament, Supreme Court or Churchill War Museum.
On-street coach parking is available adjacent to Central Hall.
