What makes this a great venue for School group Fun or Educational Visits?

Visits can be tailored to suit each group from a 2 hour visit to an all day experience. Within easy distance of M1 & M40.

What are the activities?

Trekking through the countryside with llamas. All treks preceded by half an hour of information about llamas, history, geography, culture, specific to South America. Displays and information on llama fibre, processing, spinning/weaving etc. Learning about the animal and how to handle them for a trek. Trekking across farm land offers further information on agriculture and wildlife. Our farm has a 20 acre Native Woodland with two ponds for further investigation of wildlife. Our visitor centre and log cabin home are run on sustainable and renewable energy. WE are zero carbon and totally self sufficient.

What is the age range of the activities?

8 years upwards. No upper limit.

Sample programme of the activities:

Pre trek talk with information about South American Camelids.
Instruction on handling llamas for the trek.
1 hour - full day trek
Fibre processing.
Visiting the mothers and crias (baby llamas)

What materials to you provide or suggest groups bring to support the visit?

We do not offer workshops or worksheets.
Suitable clothing and footwear for hiking across country

What are the minimum and maximum group sizes and the free Teacher Ratio?

6 min. 30 max. Under 12 years 1 adult per 3 children.

We have our own Risk Assessment

Do you offer Teacher familiarisation days?

No

What facilities are there for school groups for food and drink, shop etc?

Toilets, including full disabled access and hot water hand washing facilities. Picnic tables and visitor centre with small shop area of llama related goods. NO food or drink supplied. BYO only

Is specific clothing required?

Strong, comforatble footwear for cross country walking and long trousers. Waterproofs in case of rain.

No
