What makes this a great venue for School group Fun or Educational Visits?

This beautiful building is the Mother Church of the Anglican Communion and inspires awe and wonder from the very first glimpse

What are the Curriculum Topics or Benefit to the students from a visit?

Topics that can be covered include History from the Saxons and Normans, through Medieval Realms to the impact of World War 2.
Religious Education through exploring a place of worship and a Christian community, Poetry writing, Chaucer’s footsteps, Art and the stained glass windows, Maths and Science and much more.

What are the activities?

Primary School children can dress up in costumes for themed tours of the Cathedral and we have an amazing Project Room full of kinaesthetic activities.
Secondary school students can have a tour with one of our volunteer guides who are eager to share their knowledge and love of the Cathedral.

What is the age range of the activities?

Children of all ages are welcome.

What materials to you provide or suggest groups bring to support the visit?

We have a range of materials that can be provided by the Schools Department and information about the Cathedral is found on our website.

What are the minimum and maximum group sizes and the free Teacher Ratio?

All Primary School accompanying adults are free of charge. For secondary schools 1 teacher is free for every 10 pupils.

Do you have or how do you arrange risk assessment?

We have a generic risk assessment but advise teachers to carry out their own to complement ours.

Do you offer Teacher familiarisation days?

Yes.

What facilities are there for school groups for food and drink, shop etc?

There is a lunch room that can be booked where pupils can eat their packed lunch.
There is a small gift shopinside the Cathedral and a large one in the Precincts.
"Goodie bags" can be arranged.

Do you have first aid on site?

Yes.

Are there any restrictions on photos, copyright etc?

Photos may be taken for personal use.
