The Calvert Trust Exmoor has over 14 years of experience in delivering exciting, challenging and enjoyable outdoor activity adventures to all ages and abilities. The range of structured programmes for schools includes educational field studies and multi-activity programmes for key stages 1 & 2. All activities are onsite and equipment is provided.
The accessible centre is located in an area of outstanding beauty on the edge of Exmoor National Park, next to Wistlandpound Reservoir and a short distance from the North Devon Coast. Registered with the AALA, activities are specifically designed and equipped to cater for all, you can even abseil in a wheelchair!
The centre has exclusive access to Wistlandpound reservoir for sailing, kayaking and canoeing. There is also an innovative and accessible activity trail suitable for wheelchair users with pictorial signs for those with learning disabilities.
We now hold a Learning Outside the Classroom (LOtC) Badge and were awarded AHOEC Gold Standard in 2010.
Students benefit from the challenging and rewarding activities through team building and problem solving which contributes to enhancing their self confidence and independence, as well as improving personal, social and emotional skills.
Abseiling, archery, sailing, canoeing, kayaking, climbing, high ropes course, challenge course, zip wire, horse riding, carriage driving, orienteering, crate strack, king swing, bushcraft and a range of field studies.

We encourage pre-visit discussions between teachers and activity staff to develop objectives to match relevant key stage curriculum so each groups' requirements can be individually assessed.
Groups are generally 8-12 (if the group size is less than 12 we reserve the right to join the group with another). Maximum of 55 people.
Risk assessments and insurance information available upon request. The centre holds an AALA license and instructors are highly experienced and qualified by national governing bodies such as the RYA (Royal Yachting Association), BHS (British Horse Scoiety) & BCU (British Canoe Union). All professional staff are fully CRB checked.
Teachers are welcome to come and visit the centre beforehand by prior arrangement to help with pre-visit planning.
Freshly prepared, home-cooked meals are available on site, and specialist diets can be catered for. Free tea, coffee and soft drinks are available throughout the day and evening. We also have a shop selling confectionery, drinks, postcards etc as well as items of clothing such as T-shirts and fleeces.
We provide waterproof clothing, day sacs, riding hats, life jackets/buoyancy aids and all specialist outdoor equipment, but you are welcome to bring your own. Sturdy watertproof footwear is required and a full list of suggested items is provided on our website.

Calvert Trust Exmoor has an indoor swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room, an indoor & outdoor riding school, children’s play area, games room and a sensory room. Accommodation consists of ensuite single, twin and triple bedded rooms as well as a number of apartments with open plan kitchen and living space for self catering. Full catering is available for the apartments. Food is locally sourced and organic wherever possible and all diets can be catered for.
