What makes this a great venue for School group Fun or Educational Visits?

Calbourne Water Mill offers an excellent opportunity for schools to experience a demonstration of a working mill. The children also have the opportunity to physically experience the transition of grain to flour using the quern stones which are smaller than the mill stones used and are worked by a handle.
The onsite museums offer a chance for children to experience the history of our world. Our war museum has memorabilia from world wars 1 and 2. Grandma’s kitchen museum consists of a large collection of household items from the 19th and 20th century. There is also a fire station, consisting of historical fire equipment and a fire engine.
Whilst offering all of this, we also offer the chance for children to experience pottery making with “clay play”. The clay play is available at a discounted rate £1.50 for a ball of clay per child if booked in advance (minimum of 10). Children will be able to create items from their clay ball and take it home with them. The clay used is air drying clay so therefore does not need to be fired in the kiln.
