Bucks County Museum and Roald Dahl Children’s Gallery can offer an amazing day out with your class, with all materials and use of a lunch room included.
Teachers can relax and enjoy the day knowing that everything will be taken care of by our friendly and knowledgeable Schools Learning Team. All you need to bring is the children and their lunches!
We cover a wide variety of topics, most commonly literacy, science, history and art. If there is a specific topic you wish to cover, please contact our Schools Learning Team Leader and we will be happy to help and meet your requirements if possible.
We provide numerous 90 minute hands on workshops including:

• Archaeology at Work (various themes available)
• Roald Dahl Story Crafts (various themes available)

• Joint workshops with the Centre for Bucks Studies (various themes available)
Our workshops are generally for KS1, KS2 children and SEN groups. If you wish to bring an older group please contact our Schools Learning Team Leader who will be happy to help and meet your requirements if possible.
10am: Arrive at Bucks County Museum and Roald Dahl Children's Gallery
10.30am - 12noon: 90 minute workshop in the Roald Dahl Children's gallery OR 90 Workshop in Bucks County Museum OR 90 minute Craft Workshop
12noon - 12:30pm: Lunch
12.30pm - 2pm: 90 minute workshop in the Roald Dahl Children's gallery OR 90 Workshop in Bucks County Museum OR 90 minute Craft Workshop
2.15pm: Back on the coach to school
Just the children, a camera and lunch!
All workshops have a maximum capacity of 45 children and a minimum charge of £120. As we can do 2 workshops in one day we can have up to 90 children on site.
Please contact the museum if your group size is larger and we will try to meet your requirements if possible.
Free teacher ratio - Up to Year 2: 1 adult to 6 children, Year 3 and above: 1 adult to 8 children
We can provide schools with general risk assessments once they have made a booking. However, we do recommend that you make a pre visit so you are familiar with the site and any potential risks and complete your own risk assessments.
We can provide a pre visit tour with our Schools Learning Team Leader that lasts 30 minutes to an hour.
We have a cafe and a shop that has souvenirs at pocket money prices.
Lunch rooms are included when you book a teaching session.
we also have a walled garden you can use for lunch or for the children to have a run around.
No. But if you are visiting the Roald Dahl Children's Gallery, please avoiud wearing green as this will make the Chocolate Television Machine less effective!
We have trained first aiders on site but do recommend you bring your own first aider and kit with you.
You are more than welcome to take photos ofg your children during the workshops.
if you wish to take photos of exhibitions or objects a permissions form must be completed.

All workshops at Bucks County Museum and Roald Dahl Children’s Gallery cost £6 per child. If you book 2 workshops in one visit it is only £10 per child. Joint workshops with the Centre for Bucks Studies: £8 per child. Minimum charges apply: please contact the museum to confirm charges.
