Summary:
We took 180 Y3 + 4 pupils to Twycross zoo as part of our science work. The pupils were given a talk about habitats & how animals adapt - this was in groups of 30 pupils. Each pupil had the chance to stroke a variety of animals during this talk so that they could feel the fur/skin. Habitats were clearly explained. The website was very useful & contains much information about all the animals & their habitats.
Venue:
Twycross Zoo
Informative website & talk given by Zoo staff - our focus of habitats was well supported by this visit
Accommodation:
Twycross Zoo
Plenty of clean toilets - reasonably priced items in the gift shop (understanding staff in shop too!)
Transport:

rather old & dirty buses - not what we're used to!

Just right for our habitats work - many children had not previously visited a zoo. It also led to great debate on whether pupils thought zoos were good or bad for animals.

Friendly staff
Wide selection of reasonably priced gifts
Plenty of bus & car parking
Minus points:
No free previsit tickets offered
No undercover eating area offered
