Summary:
Our weekend including several activities including pool kayaking, climbing, archery, swimming, woodland adventure walk, initiative games and high ropes course. All of our group were encouraged to make the most of the weekend even those that found the activity difficult. School staff were encouraged to join in where and when possible, which in most cases to the entertainment of the children in their group.

Arethusa Venture Centre
We have used this centre for the past three years and each time have found it has exceeded out highest expectations. The instructors are always friendly, approachable and very competent. The children have discovered a great deal about themselves in what is a relatively short time. The accomodation is comfortable and generally of a high standard, the kitchen staff will always do their best to ensure the menu suits the dietary needs of the whole group and make sure everyone is very well fed.
Benefit:
The children benefitted from the physical aspects of the residential weekend as well as developing their emotional literacy, independence, self esteem and team working skills. Many of the children surprised themselves with how well they coped with being away from parents and family and having to deal with the pressures of living with at least six other people in one room.
Plus points:
Riverside walks were always very popular especially when they included some beach combing.
