Venue Region:
Spain
Town:
Boston
Summary:
Taking everything into consideration, a most worthwhile and successful trip - but avoid Sonia the tour guide.
Tour Operator:
Study Trips
An excellent service - very easy to use & contact - very helpful staff who went out of their way to help resolve a problem and it was no effort for them. Listened to and resolved any concerns without any problems.
Venue:
Lloret de Mar / Barcelona
Good safe location for students away from pickpockets which outweighs the disadvantage of being out of the city
Accommodation:
Hotel Samba
Excellent hotel with helpful staff but the food deteriorated as the week progressed - one evening, it was disgusting
Transport:
Compass Royston
Excellent - we could not have wished for better drivers, the were brilliant -- This is the second time we have used them and they were excellent on both occaissions
Benefit:
Some industrial visits were a health and saftey concern - breif students carefully (Spanish health & safety law is not the same as ours)
Plus points:
Tour of the Port was excellent, Flamenco night was very good, Siemens engine plant is very good and worthwhile, Students were fascinated & impressed by the Sagrada Famillia. Motor racing circuit was excellent as was the coach builders.
Minus points:
Not a lot to see at Torres - you are kept well away from production areas and only get a tour of where the vines grow, you don't see inside the bottling plant.
Check your tour guide beforehand - if you get Sonia, change her - she cannot relate to students at all & is bossy and wants things done her way. During industrial visits, she took over from the experts and then complained that students kept asking her difficult technical questions that she didn't know the answer to. Avoid her at all costs.
