y6 activity residential trip

by anita on 6th July 2009
Department:
Cross Curricular
Year Group:
Key Stage 2
Venue Region:
South West England
Town:
weymouth
Summary:
This was our 4th PGL residential and again it was a very enjoyable if exhausting week.
Tour Operator: PGL
PGL take control of all the activities throughout the day, although staff do have to accompany the children. All activities with the exception of water sports take place on site. Water sports are a coach ride away from Portland. A groupie is assigned to the group for the week to make sure that everything runs smoothly including getting everybody to meals and activities on time. The children take part in various activities which challenge the more adventurous but also cater for the more timid. Staff can participate should they feel energetic! In our experience PGL make sure that everything runs smoothly including first aid and even clearing up after a child who was sick! Talking of which 3 cooked meals a day are supplied with plenty of choice to cater for all likes/dislikes.
Venue: Osmington Bay
This is an outstanding venue overlooking Weymouth bay, the accomadation is adequate for the children who have 4/6 bedded en-suiterooms, and good for staff, with single en-suite rooms & coffee making facilities.
Benefit:
The wide range of activities ensure that the children improve on their team building skills and and self confidence, but more importantly they have fun. Its a great way of building up their independence before moving onto secondary school.
Overall:
