visit to tudor house

by GillJ on 21st November 2008
Department:
Primary
Year Group:
Year 4
Venue Region:
South West England
Town:
Exeter
Summary:
Venue: St Nicholas' Priory in Exeter
The Priory is run by RAMM museum services and provides a wonderful visit based on learning more about the social life of a family in Tudor Exeter.
Benefit:
Very relevant to our study of life in Tudor times. The staff at the Priory are in role for the whole day. The children come in Tudor costume and experience different activities to develop their understanding of Tudor life. One of the activities is to make a pottage for the tudor lunch which the children eat along with other typical foods. They also help to make an inventory of possessions, design possible furnishings, play Tudor games, learn to dance the pavanne and discover if they have met the challenge set them at the start of the day!
