by Mrs.B on 19th December 2008
Department:
Special Needs
Year Group:
Key Stage 2
Venue Region:
Northern Ireland
Town:
Omagh
Summary:
A trip to the Ulster American Folk Park for a Key Stage 2 group who had just completed a topic on the Irish Famine . Children had the opportunity to visit real Irish cottages and experience life in 19th centruy Ireland . They then boarded the replica ship to America and experienced life in late 19th pioneer America. A fabulous resource and I would recommend it to all schools. They also do special Halloween and Christmas events.
Venue: Ulster American Folk Park , Omagh, Co.Tyrone, N.Ireland
Benefit:
Excellent hands on History experience - great follow up to work on the Irish Potato Famine of 1845
Plus points:
Guides -great with the children and able to explain thngs simply. Great exhibits beautifully maintained . Excellent workshops provided for all age groups.
Minus points:

None it was all perfect. Can be a problem if it rains as there is a lot of walking outside between houses
Overall:
