Trip to Key Theatre

by on 20th November 2008
Department:
Primary
Year Group:
Year 2
Venue Region:
East-Midlands
Town:
Peterborough
Summary:
Everyone had a fantastic time and it really enhanced the Literacy for several weeks!
Venue: Peterborough Key Theatre
We went to see 'The Tiger Who Came to Tea' based on the book. Very interactive show starring only 4 people. The children found it very entertaining and thoroughly enjoyed learning a new song and taking part. It was approx 45 mins - 60 mins which was suitable for the age group. The cast were well rehearsed and incorporated some amusing magic in order for the Tiger to eat and drink large quantities at a time. A lovely show!
Transport: Emblings
Coach there and back. It waited while we watched the show. Large seater bus - seating 3 in a row. Only suitable for little children!
Benefit:
Fitted in with Literacy narrative and then we went on to do instructional writing. We did this around making the tiger his perfect sandwich. He set the success criteria and we made him what he wished for. The children wrote instructions for someone else to make it. All very good fun and an older child dressed up as the Tiger and visited our classroom.
Plus points:
For every 10 children who booked a seat at the Key Theatre 1 adult goes free.
Large seater bus so could all travel together - 5 seats per row.
Minus points:

Bus only suitable for small children.
Overall:
