The Crocky Trail near Chester

by philipjohnson on 8th March 2010
Department:
Physical Education
Year Group:
Key Stage 2
Venue Region:
England
Town:
Chester
Summary:
Super - if you're within an hour of Cheter (e.g. Liverpool, Manchester, Stoke) I'd say your KS2 kids would have the sort of day out where thet'd feel pleasantly "tired" on the return journey !
Venue: Crocky Trail
An adventure park with a difference, lots of fields, walks and climbing frames made of natural materials, nothing really plastic-y or tacky. The children all engaged in about 4 hours of moderatelt strenuous exercise, walking, climbing, crossing over streams, (very shallow) playing games and taking rides.
Thoroughly enjoyed it - a little like how "play" used to be a generation ago, i.e. a small amount of "danger" involved, but all kept within reason.
Benefit:
outdoor and adventurous activities in P.E. fulfilled.
Plus points:

exercise
fresh air
played on simple, natural swings / rides / climbing frames / tunnels etc.
Minus points:
a tiny bit pricy at (I think) about 7 or 8 pounds. (Visited Summer '08)
Overall:
