Summary:
This is a lovely restored Stuart house set in the Civil War period. The guides at the House are all 'in period' as the Prichards' servants (the family are always away the day we visit) with costume, speech, attitudes & knowledge. They interact well with the children and show them round the whole house including kitchen, servants' hall -with making 'plague' bags(herbs & lavender), court room (Colonel Prichard owner of house was the local JP) parlour, Colonel's bedroom, Lady Prichard's bedroom, study -with armour to try on etc. There is also an adequate sized school room with child sized Stuart costumes to try on and tables for lunch or sketching, a well-stocked shop, a Stuart garden (not very exciting) and a small exhibition area with some interactive items which is a bit over the heads of KS2 although they do try with the work sheets.
