Business Studies coursework research trip to Alton Towers

by sam on 13th February 2009
Department:
Business Studies
Year Group:
Key Stage 4
Venue Region:
West-Midlands
Summary:
Good trip overall, some good educational value as well as a fun day for the students. Success of the trip can be a reliant on the weather, and going during busy time (June, July, August) will mean queues and the possibility that students only get on a few rides while they are there
Venue: Alton Towers
Excellent educational talk, students very much enjoyed the experience, a little expensive, but overall, good value for money. Alton Towers offers a range of educational talks within our subject and very kindly offered a copy of the presentation details from the other areas to take away with us.
Transport: Prospect Coaches, Kingswinford
Used this coach operator several times. Always offers good service and value for money. Very reliable and caoch driver always very friendly and most have had good knowledge of the journey being taken to the final destination
Benefit:
Education talks were good. Offered a range of areas to be looked at, e.g. marketing, customer services, etc. Members of staff were very knowledgable and interaction with and between the students was encouraged
Plus points:
Students very much enjoyed the rides available. Educational talk and resources recieved were good. Range of food outlets good.
Minus points:
A little expensive, especially when the price of food is factored into the equation. The size of the park is vast and therefore may not be suitable for Key Stage 3 students or younger as they can not closely supervised
Overall:
